*13th International Criminal Law Congress | The Law Foundation

The 13th?International Criminal Law Congress is being held in Queenstown this week, with the theme ?The Shrinking International Criminal Code?.

The programme covers a diverse range of criminal justice topics including: cybercrime, future forensic challenges, brain-injured criminal justice detainees, the effectiveness of special intervention courts and bill of rights issues.

The international presenters include leading judges, practitioners, academics and forensic experts:

  • Judge Stein Schjolberg, Court of Appeal Judge in Norway and Chair of the EastWest Institute (EWI) Cybercrime Legal Working Group.

  • Dr Michael King, magistrate, Western Australia, and adjunct senior law lecturer at Monash University.

  • Dr George Williams, leading Australian constitutional lawyer, law professor at the University of New South Wales, public commentator and author.

Tony Bouchier, director of the organising committee, says attendees comprise members of the judiciary and the Criminal Bar, legal academics, researchers and students of law.

The Law Foundation is providing funding of up to $30,000 for this conference; to bring international keynote speakers, and to enable law students and young practitioners to attend.
